Head of law enforcement authorities of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand issued letters of congratulation respectively on the success of the 100th joint patrol on the Mekong River on December 11,2020
Laotian Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamfong stated that the Mekong River joint patrols have contributed to the well-being, security and peace for the people along the route. Laos is keen to improve cooperation with relevant parties in combating cross-border crimes such as drug trafficking, illegal immigration, smuggling, telecommunications fraud, and online gambling, so as to reinforce and intensify the law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism in the Mekong River Basin.
Home Affairs Minister of Myanmar Soe Htut pointed out that the proactive joint law enforcement cooperation between China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand has created a more peaceful and stable environment for this region in the past decade. He calls for greater outcomes of such operations in the coming years.
The Royal Thai Police said in the letter the joint enforcement cooperation based on mutual trust and win-win results between China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand has made a significant contribution to the security and stability along the river. Thailand is ready to continue deepening enforcement and security cooperation with all parties concerned.
